Looking for a fun Spring DIY decor idea? This quick and kid friendly Rainbow Flower DIY is the perfect way to brighten up a rainy spring day.
Supplies:
- 2 - packages of the Small Surfboard wood cutout (we used the 1/8" thickness)
- 1 - 5 inch round
- 1 - 2 inch round
- Paint
- Paint brushes or sponges
- Glue Gun
Steps:
- Decide on your color scheme! For our rainbow theme we used Light Magenta, Deep Red, Orange, Deep Yellow, Brilliant Yellow, Light Green, Sap Green, Cerulean Blue, Light Violet, and Violet from Artist's Loft. 10 colors for the 10 petals in each layer.
- Gather you surfboards (a.k.a. petals) and give them a light sanding to prepare them for painting. Paint them and let them dry.
- Grab your 5 inch wood circle (it doesn't need to be 5 inches it could be as small as 3 inches) backerboard and lay out your petals to find the pattern you like, making sure the flat bottom of the pieces are touching.
- Hot glue the pieces to the 5 inch round, on the second layer make sure to layout the pieces between the first layer.
- Glue the 2 inch circle to cover the area in the center of the petals.
